Jerry Wilkey
Jerry Wilkey brings to the ACTUM Group thirty-five years of experience in management, engineering, project management, and business and product development gained while working for Fortune 500 companies and a nonprofit trade association. He was a senior executive with full profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities at two companies, and has developed and managed operating and capital budgets ranging from $2 million to $60 million. He is experienced in strategic and organizational planning, personnel development and management, labor relations, sales, and manufacturing facility supervision and management and is also proficient in efficiency troubleshooting, performance management, and process engineering.
Jerry Wilkey

Jerry’s engineering career began with General Motors as a first line maintenance supervisor in a department of over 1000 people and within a year was promoted to general supervisor, overseeing equipment and facilities maintenance in a 1-million-square-foot facility.

Jerry was recruited to Chrysler where as Manufacturing Engineering Manager he was responsible for engineering, maintenance, product and process development, environmental compliance, energy management, and asset acquisition, installation and utilization. He was responsible for developing and managing annual departmental operating and facility capital budgets. He implemented cost savings and elimination programs totaling over $3.6 million through improvements in product quality, equipment utilization, uptime and productivity.

Following his success as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Jerry was promoted to Business Manager, where he was responsible for P&L results, and overall management of casting, machining of automotive transmissions. He oversaw the launch of major product programs, implemented the LEAN production program and a safety program that resulted in reduced worker compensation costs and lost time accidents.

Jerry was recruited by Leggett & Platt to serve as Vice President, where he had full P&L responsibilities as head of the Aluminum Operating Group. During his tenure, the group grew from four operating units with about $225 million in sales to twenty-three units with sales of over $500 million. He improved operating income and implemented cost reduction, LEAN production and safety programs that resulted in excess of $4 million savings and cost avoidance. He led efforts to achieve ISO 9000 and QS9000 registration and certification of operations and achieved total environmental compliance at all facilities.

After retiring from Leggett & Platt, Jerry worked for the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA), a nonprofit trade association, where he implemented numerous solutions for the industry. He assisted the industry in developing an ANSI Machine Standard and finding methods for improving die cast products. He developed environmental and safety audit programs for the industry, audited various facilities, taught technical courses, edited and co-authored technical textbooks and served as the association liaison to various industrial technical committees and research universities. He also organized and oversaw international technical congresses at NADCA expositions.

Jerry received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Western Michigan University, along with an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He is a member of the North American Die Casting Association, and a past member of the Plant Engineering Society, American Foundry Association, and Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He also holds the distinction of being the first person to be certified as a master of die casting technology.
